NOT All Work and No Play

This is what Terry got for Christmas from our secretary.  An awful lot of thinking has gone into this one.  I had never even heard of some of these candies.

Claire's Quilt

Worked on Claire's quilt Friday, but very little.  Terry and I had to do some serious shopping so we could get these beauties installed:

They are located close to my sewing area, closet, bathroom, and I just love them!  I am constantly amazed by my talented husband, who is not an electrician or plumber by trade, but he can do anything.  He's had lots of experience and always enjoys a challenge.  I am seriously spoiled. 
Claire's quilt is now finished washed, folded, and ready to head south to Dallas.

 Guess I could have left my shadow out of that picture, but I was in a hurry, so this is the best I've got.  Simple pattern, simple straight-line quilting with some big zig-zags thrown in.  Hopefully a fun quilt for Claire.

My Home Away From Home

I have to work sometimes (I know, most of you work harder), so I have a sewing space in my "other" home.  It's not very exciting, but I think the light is actually better.  I really am working on some projects, and here is proof:

I am currently working on grand daughter Claire's quilt.  It coordinates with her sister's quilts.  Plan to have it completed by this weekend.

Wow

The 'wow' in the title of this post is meant to imply sarcasm.  I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted!  Vacation, work, family craziness (or is that crazy family?), and only a little sewing project or two.  We traveled to Utah:

This is Kolob Canyon.  Such a beautiful place.  Saw lots of breathtaking country in Southern Utah, then went on to Arizona, New Mexico, then Rockwall, TX where our oldest daughter had a baby boy!  She has three girls, now one cutie pie little boy.  I don't even have a picture on my camera of little Jonathan.  So pitiful.  I will have her send me some, so I can post his cute little mug on my blog.  I am just terrible about taking pictures.  My girls (including daughter-in-laws) are just wonderful photographers, so I usually leave that up to them.
However, I did get a snap of us joining grand-daughter, Audrey, at her school on Grandparents' Day in September.  Gotta love those elementary school lunches, right?

The Christmas stocking is for new baby Jon.  We are expecting at least one more grand-baby in the year 2013 (hopefully more!), so I have to stay on top of making these stockings.
Hopefully the month of November will be a more productive one when it comes to sewing.  I have to make a couple of little quilts.  Not too many homemade Christmas gifts this year, since I have to spend a lot of time on projects at work :p 

Summer's End

Not much blogging going on around here, but I think the summer craziness will soon come to an end.  I don't know if I'm happy about that or not.  Summer seems way too short to me.  This is a teaser for an upcoming quilting project. 

Looks like an odd mess, doesn't it?  I plan to create a quilt from this mess.  Maybe I can even find the time to blog about it, but have some traveling to do.  So excited to be heading into some southern sunshine and will be welcoming the arrival of a new grand SON (finally, after six grand daughters:) next week!

Car Seat Cover

My big accomplishment for the month of August has been to take apart a car seat cover and put in some new fabric.  The backing is new also.  It needed washed and when we did so, the backing was starting to fall apart.  I put a light green flannel on the back, so when we have to wash it again it will stay together (I hope).  This is not a difficult project.  Start to finish, it takes a couple of hours, but not hard.  The only part that is all new on the top of this is the polka-dot fabric.  I guess I did make three more of these jewelry cases--consignment pieces.  Lots of traveling and company this summer, so not a lot of time for sewing.  Hope you are enjoying your summer!
