Sophia's Sweater

I finished this knitted sweater a couple of days ago. Instructions were to add a yarn tie, but I decided on a silk ribbon tie to dress it up a bit. I hope it fits her! This was an easy pattern for me, so I may actually make more of these for other grand daughters.

Darryl's Quilt

I have officially completed all of my brother's quilts, including this one. It's called "Chain Reaction". I quilted it differently this time. I did a little leaves and vines machine-quilting all over it in green thread. Think I will be using that pattern again. It was kinda of fun.

Richard's Quilt

I am doing a lot of quick, simple posts because I have so many projects to work on. As I complete them, I post them, lest I forget to do it at all. Here is the latest quilt I completed for one of my brothers. Just in the nick of time :)

It is called "Pinwheels on Parade". Not an original pattern. In fact, it was a kit of fabrics with the pattern. I don't usually do those, but it was a real bargain and just the perfect pattern and colors for Richard, I think.

David's Quilt

Friday Night Sew-In

Here are a few highlights from our Friday Night Sew-in.

Back of Rag Quilt

I've really got to figure out how to label my pictures. Maybe Jessica can help me with that later tonight. I mostly worked on the rag quilt you see here. Took a new twist on ragging and did strips instead of squares, then put it together so it would rag on both sides. I clipped all the edges and washed it a couple of times and it's already softening up nicely.
I made the sprocket pincushions for the girls as gifts. I ended up making six of them because they were cute and fun. You can find the pattern on Cluck Cluck Sew blog. These are a quick and easy project and would make a great stocking stuffer for any sewer.

Child's Neck Warmer/Scarf

I can show you this little neck warmer/scarf thing, because I'm pretty sure my little grand-daughters will not read this blog anytime soon.

These are the simple instructions for one that should fit a 2-4 yr. old.
Skill Level: Beginner
Gauge is 3 sts=1 in.
Size 9 knitting needles
1 skein Lion Brand Fun Fur yarn
Regular Acrylic yarn to mix with Fun Fur
Two 1" buttons

I used two strands of yarn, mixing the Fun Fur with the regular Acrylic yarn. I'm not sure how much regular yarn I used (sorry!) but it doesn't take much. Cast on 12 stitches. Knit (not too tight) for 26-28 rows. Finished length should be about 20 inches. Sew your buttons to the long side as shown on the picture. Because you knitted fairly loosely, you can "button" it together easily without making any special button holes. I'm sure you could crochet this instead of knitting if you would rather do that. Would just have to experiment a little with crochet needle size to get the width/length you want. These are super soft! I need to have one of my grand-daughters model this for you and post a picture later.

This in itself is a really big deal for someone who pretty much NEVER wins anything! You can see what I won here on Amy Smart's blog, "Diary of a Quilter." One of my favorite blogs because she has really great ideas, patterns, etc. She has an Etsy shop where you will find her patterns and lots of cute stuff to make lots of cute projects, of course.
